What are the main focuses of UNITUS?

-Combining the efforts of local NGOs, government organizations and the international community to provide a comprehensive package of social services and access to medical services that meet the needs of vulnerable groups in the city of Mykolayiv and the Mykolayiv region. The vulnerable group UNITUS serves is composed of nearly 2,800 commercial sex workers and 2,500 injecting drug users. These numbers include adolescents fewer than 18 years of age.

-Coordinating community outreach activities on topics related to socially significant disease prevention, violence prevention, promotion of gender policy, and social and legal protection for at risk groups.

-Empowering people from at risk populations to take on leadership roles in order to educate their communities about the stigma surrounding socially significant diseases.
